orchard tour
September 11, 2009Our two favorite coops have banded together to arrange a tour of three farms/orchard in the Gorge. Ours is the first stop in the morning so I hope the sun is out -it’s a good time of day to walk through the trees. And vines.

September 11, 2009This isn’t one of Dad’s favorite things since he doesn’t really like to push his peaches. But ask him a question about the orchard and he’ll talk your ear off.
grapes are super early this year
August 24, 2009If all of the varieties stick to their usual schedules, they should come on one right after the other. But it’s been a crazy year. The big heat wave in early August actually stopped the peaches from ripening for a bit -as if they were hunkering down and trying not to move like everyone else. And now the Reliant table grapes are almost two weeks early.

August 24, 2008We initially thought the season was going to be late this year -after a cold spring. But it seems to have caught up and we’re looking like a regular picking time of mid June.
