Growing Details
- Organic certified since 1992 by Organic Tilth (we were the first organic orchard in Wasco county)
- Tree ripened (the sugar levels are measured with a refractometer to make sure they are high enough)
- Aggressive pruning for size and flavor
- Water limited before harvest
- Alfalfa grown in between the rows, then cut and blown onto the base of the trees as natural fertilizer
- Birds and bats used for pest control
- Trees picked by ripeness, going back several times over the season
- Strict sorting during packing
- Shipped to the stores in relatively small batches, within a day of picking (sometimes within hours)
